AVAWAVES

Contemporary virtuoso duo AVAWAVES are rooted in cinematic narratives, evoking emotional journeys of the heart and mind. Comprising of Anna Phoebe and Aisling Brouwer, they released their debut album ‘Waves’ in 2019 followed by ‘Chrysalis’ in 2021.

Never conforming to expectations and yet instantly accessible, the music composed by these two creative visionaries is a sonorous consequence of two opposing forces determined to carve their identities into each other’s lives. To watch them interact on stage is a mesmerising experience, distilling the ebb and flow of their musicianship into an addictive and captivating intensity.

Anna Phoebe is a composer and violinist who has recorded and toured throughout the world with multi-platinum selling bands, as well as collaborations with the European Space Agency, Royal Ballet School and Cancer Research. Aisling Brouwer is a film composer and producer who recently scored Amazon Original ‘Lioness’ – a film directed by Helena Coan about British boxing champion Nicola Adams. Other work includes the BIFA-nominated anti-racist feature ‘White Riot’ and campaigns for United Nations and Dior.

AVAWAVES recently wrote an original score for Savage Waters, a feature documentary about a mission to find and surf a spectacular big wave in the Atlantic Ocean. This autumn they played Royal Albert Hall as part of Nitin Sawhney’s ‘Journeys: 150 Years of Immigration’ and they recently performed for award-winning podcast The Guilty Feminist.

Coming from mixed European backgrounds (Anna Phoebe is German/Greek/Irish and Aisling Brouwer is Dutch/Irish) and having each grown up moving around multiple countries, they met for the first time in London in 2015.

SUPPORT

Jay Chakravorty

Jay is a multi-instrumentalist composer and producer, based in London. His debut post-classical album “A Map With No Memory” is out now on Berlin label Unperceived Records. The album was recorded in homes and studios around London with the help of musical friends Jo Quail (cello – Jo Quail, Poppy Ackroyd, Mono), Ellie Wilson (violin – Ellie Wilson, Stick In The Wheel), Hannah Nicholson (vocals – Ellie Goulding, Hannah Williams and the Affirmations) and Red Carousel (string quartet – The Heavy).

Jay has made music under various guises over the years – as a producer and writer; as a session musician, playing guitar, bass, piano, synths, accordion, percussion, and all manner of electronics at gigs both big (Royal Albert Hall, Hammersmith Apollo, Copenhagen Royal Arena) and small (way too many to mention); and as a composer, creating music for plays, adverts, shorts and feature films.

Ellie Norman

Ellie Dorman is a south East London based musician who released her debut album ‘Twelve’ in 2017 nominated for best Concept Album (2018 – Interactive Media Awards). In  2019 Dorman released  a 4 track fully animated EP “Near & Far”;  atmospheric music that sets a bed for the angular melodies that sing out over interesting chord progressions. Her set will include some new material that is more electronically influenced and is due to be released this summer.

Book a table for pre-concert dining

Acapela Studio provides pre-concert dining between 6.00pm and 7.30pm from our wood burning pizza oven. To view the current menu visit here.

Please purchase your concert tickets first before booking a table. We will not accept any table bookings that do not have a corresponding ticket purchase.

Then return to the event page to book your table, by selecting the date of your event, number of diners and time you require table. The times shown are the only vacancies left.  Please complete your email and phone number as this is required to ensure your table is allocated. You will receive confirmation of your booking by email and text.

If on the date you have chosen no tables are available - no times will be shown and the booking system will revert you back to todays date - PLEASE ENSURE YOU BOOK THE CORRECT DATE!

PLEASE NOTE THE VENUE RELIES ON THE INCOME FROM DINING TO ENSURE WE CAN BOOK ALL THE GREAT ACTS PERFORMING.

Income from the provision of pizzas is very important to the venue and if you have booked a table it is a requirement that all people sat at tables order food - a salad alternative is available to pizzas. Please do ensure that all individuals will be ordering on your table - if  this is not the case please cancel your table so others who are looking to dine can do so. Our apologies to raise this but recently we have had many tables (some very large) where less than 50% of those sat at tables have ordered food. Financially this is a real problem to the sustainability of the venue.

  • All seating at tables must purchase a pizza - so please do not book a table if everyone is not eating.
  • Please ensure that you arrive 10 minutes before the time slot allocated to order your pizzas prior to your booking time.
  • Tables not seated within 15 minutes of the allocated time may be lost and allocated to other audience members wishing to order pizzas.
  • If you wish to book a table for 6 or more please email info@acapela.co.uk

Please note that all of our pizzas are made fresh to order and cooked in an authentic wood-fired oven. It may take up to 45 minutes to be served during busy periods.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO BOOK A TABLE YOU CAN STILL ORDER PIZZAS ON THE NIGHT (USUALLY ON BUSY NIGHTS NO LATER THAN  7.15PM) AND WE WILL SERVE THEM TO YOU WHEREVER YOU ARE SAT IN THE VENUE - IN A PIZZA BOX.
