A Christmas Vocal Feast – Indigo May and Côrdydd in Pure Harmony.

Sit back, relax and let Indigo May and Côrdydd put you in a festive mood with a concert packed with heavenly harmonies, seasonal favourites and thrilling voices.

Meinir Ann Thomas, founder of Indigo May became a member of Côrdydd when she returned to Wales after years of living in Australia and London. Her relationship with the choir continues with this collaboration and celebration of vocal harmony.

INDIGO MAY

The exquisite vocals of soprano duo Indigo May perform classical and modern gems with a fresh twist. They come to Acapela Studios fresh from performances on a transatlantic voyage from New York on board Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 cruise liner. Indigo May never cease to thrill their audiences with their vocal versatility and seamless blend. Their mesmerizing performances bring you vocal hi-jinx and a fusion of classical, pop, jazz and Celtic gems with some Bach thrown in for good measure.

Meinir Ann Thomas and Julie Kench met whilst touring the World performing in some the World’s best concert halls, opera houses and jazz clubs as members of the legendary Grammy award winning acapella group ‘The Swingle Singers’. Between them they have performed in many countries around the World as soloists and session vocalists; and with various choirs, opera companies, bands, close harmony groups and other artists.

The seamless blend of their voices brings you the enchanting sound of Indigo May.

“Breathtaking!” “ … blew us away … ” “…like one voice … ”

“Not just classical crossover. The girls cross many genres with ease.”

CÔRDYDD

Since a group of friends came together in Cardiff to form a new mixed choir in the year 2000 under the baton of Sioned James, Côrdydd has established itself as one of Wales’ most successful choirs.

It has won at the National Eisteddfod twelve times, and claimed the main title of ‘Choir of the Festival’ on six

occasions. Côrdydd won BBC Radio Cymru’s choral competition in 2003, and the mixed choir category in S4C’s ‘Côr Cymru’ twice in 2009 and 2017. Côrdydd won the Best Choir prize at the Pan Celtic Festival in Ireland in 2018.

Over the years, the choir has performed a varied repertoire on numerous stages in Wales and beyond, and has travelled to Barbados and Hong Kong, performed in Carnegie Hall in New York, and as part of the Ontario Welsh Festival in Canada. Côrdydd has also been fortunate to work with some of the world’s most famous choral composers, including Eric Whitacre, Paul Mealor and Morten Lauridsen.

In 2018, the choir recorded its second album – a collection of Côrdydd’s favourite pieces. During the National Eisteddfod in the same year, they performed alongside Bryn Terfel in a new stage production, ‘Hwn yw fy Mrawd’ – a portrait of the singer, Paul Robeson, and his relationship with Wales.

Book a table for pre-concert dining

Acapela Studio provides pre-concert dining between 6.00pm and 7.30pm from our wood burning pizza oven. To view the current menu visit here.

Please purchase your concert tickets first before booking a table. We will not accept any table bookings that do not have a corresponding ticket purchase.

Then return to the event page to book your table, by selecting the date of your event, number of diners and time you require table. The times shown are the only vacancies left.  Please complete your email and phone number as this is required to ensure your table is allocated. You will receive confirmation of your booking by email and text.

If on the date you have chosen no tables are available - no times will be shown and the booking system will revert you back to todays date - PLEASE ENSURE YOU BOOK THE CORRECT DATE!

PLEASE NOTE THE VENUE RELIES ON THE INCOME FROM DINING TO ENSURE WE CAN BOOK ALL THE GREAT ACTS PERFORMING.

Income from the provision of pizzas is very important to the venue and if you have booked a table it is a requirement that all people sat at tables order food - a salad alternative is available to pizzas. Please do ensure that all individuals will be ordering on your table - if  this is not the case please cancel your table so others who are looking to dine can do so. Our apologies to raise this but recently we have had many tables (some very large) where less than 50% of those sat at tables have ordered food. Financially this is a real problem to the sustainability of the venue.

  • All seating at tables must purchase a pizza - so please do not book a table if everyone is not eating.
  • Please ensure that you arrive 10 minutes before the time slot allocated to order your pizzas prior to your booking time.
  • Tables not seated within 15 minutes of the allocated time may be lost and allocated to other audience members wishing to order pizzas.
  • If you wish to book a table for 6 or more please email info@acapela.co.uk

Please note that all of our pizzas are made fresh to order and cooked in an authentic wood-fired oven. It may take up to 45 minutes to be served during busy periods.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO BOOK A TABLE YOU CAN STILL ORDER PIZZAS ON THE NIGHT (USUALLY ON BUSY NIGHTS NO LATER THAN  7.15PM) AND WE WILL SERVE THEM TO YOU WHEREVER YOU ARE SAT IN THE VENUE - IN A PIZZA BOX.
