Gordon Giltrap wows Acapela audience

Gordon Giltrap live music CardiffLegendary acoustic guitarist Gordon Giltrap wowed Acapela last night with an amazing set of guitar pieces old and new.

He did not disappoint the audience with some amazing renditions of his classic tracks combined with a dry sense of humour that ensured that it felt like a very personal performance for all in attendance. Closing the first set with his biggest hit “Heartsong” it was a very special moment to be there to hear him play everyones favourite Holiday programme theme tune! It sounded superb , full of energy and was yet another Acapela special moment!

Tales of his career and the musicians he had played with – Rick Wakeman, Eric Clapton etc – made for a very interesting evening.

The following quote taken from Facebook from Gareth Spencer says it all – “Great night tonight watching Gordon Giltrap at the Acapela Studio, to quote a friend at the gig “It is amazing to be in the presence of brilliance and to be sat so close watching him play”. . . The guy is a legend.”

And another Facebook quote from Jonathan Winter T’was indeed a crackin’ night and that guy sure can play the guitar!!!!! lovely support act too…….and to top it off the pizza was tops!”

Thanks to all who attended and the excellent feedback.

THE STICKMEN confirm March 2018 date – with Peter Gabriel and King Crimson legend TONY LEVIN

tHE STICKMEN tONY lEVIN IN CONCERT CARDIFFTHE STICKMEN – with Peter Gabriel and King Crimson legend TONY LEVIN

We are delighted to announce that Stickmen fronted by Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto, the powerhouse bass and drums over many decades behind the group King Crimson appear at Acapela in March 2018 with Markus Reuter. Tony Levin is of course a long time member of Peter Gabriel’s band so his appearance at Acapela will be one to remember.

This is a major coup for the venue as they are only playing 4 intimate gigs in the UK following a long USA tour. WOW! Come and hear the Stickmen play music from a variety of their solo and band projects that have been a major part of their careers.

Tony Levin plays the Chapman Stick, from which the band takes it’s name. Having bass and guitar strings, the Chapman Stick functions at times like two instruments. Markus Reuter plays his self designed touch style guitar – again covering much more ground than a guitar or a bass. And Mastelotto’s drumming encompasses not just the acoustic kit, but a unique electronic setup too, allowing him to add loops, samples, percussion and more.

This is going to be a very special gig, so book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Tickets available NOW – CLICK HERE
